Black Sabbath will perform in the UAE next May, becoming just the latest mega music act to bring their stunning show to the region.

Hot on the heels of Rolling Stones, the godfathers of heavy metal will roll into the du Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on Thursday May 29.

The group, famous for tracks like Paranoid, Iron Man and War Pigs are currently touring Europe to celebrate the release of their first studio album in 35 years, having enjoyed great success with the show already in America, Australia and Asia.

Fronted by the legendary Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath have sold over 70 million albums worldwide and are credited with pioneering the heavy metal genre and taking it to the masses. They took the blues-rock sound of late ’60s acts like Cream, Blue Cheer, and Vanilla Fudge to its logical conclusion, slowing the tempo, accentuating the bass, and emphasizing screaming guitar solos and howled vocals full of lyrics expressing mental anguish and macabre fantasies.

Described this week in British newspaper The Daily Telegraph as “having put on an awe inspiring display of hard rock force at the start of the UK leg of their reunion tour”, the show in Abu Dhabi promises to wow the crowds.

Reflecting on the success of their new album, 13, which has reached No 1 in both Britain (for the first time in 43 years) and the USA (for the first time ever), Osbourne said recently: “It’s been phenomenal. Too much for me to grasp.”

Tickets for the show go on sale at 1pm on Wednesday December 18 priced between Dhs295-695 and will be available at ticketmaster.ae, selected Virgin Megastores across the UAE and by calling 800 86 823.
