Feel the need to roll back the years this January? Billed as the tribute of all tributes, We are the Champions pays homage to musical icons from Freddie Mercury to Michael Jackson, via Tina Turner and Elton John. It’s not all golden oldies, more contemporary hitmakers like Pink are in there too.

The 10-piece cast are coming to Madinat Theatre from January 16-18 for a series of thrilling shows packed full of five decades worth of hits.

The musical theatre production celebrates 50 years of unforgettable pop music with performances of passion, soul and flair befitting those who bought the original hits to the world.

So what can you expect? On a previous leg of their tour, the group churned out Sir Elton’s ‘Nikita’ and ‘Candle in the Wind’, before stepping up the tempo with ‘I’m still Standing’, ‘Sad Songs’ and ‘Crocodile Rock’.

For Tina Turner fans, get ready for ‘Simply The Best’, ‘Private Dancer’, ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’ and plenty more.

The sound is spot on, but getting the performance right is never harder than when trying to recreate the flamboyance of Freddie Mercury… just ask Sacha Baron Cohen. But through tunes like ‘Somebody to Love’, ‘Bicycle Race’, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and ‘We Will Rock You’, the team deliver the goods.

Closing the show, of course, is the King of Pop, doing justice to hits like ‘Billie Jean’, ‘Beat It’, ‘Bad’ as well as ‘Man in the Mirror’.
