Dubai residents are being asked to be an extra in a movie, the latest from local director of hit film City of Life, Ali Mostafa.

This brilliant opportunity to sample your 15 minutes of fame takes place on Sunday April 13 at The Act, Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, and will see 300 lucky individuals appear as background actors in the comedy drama From A to B.

The movie follows three childhood friends on a road trip from Abu Dhabi to Beirut – via a nightclub scene in Dubai – to honour the death of their best friend five years earlier.

And it is in that nightclub that you can feature. Filming will take place from 6am to 6pm and those selected to take part will be asked to wear ‘New Year glitz and glamour’ attire.

To be in with a chance of appearing, send a picture of yourself to ramy@alkatraz.ae or victoria@alkatraz.ae.

Meanwhile, Hollywood glamour will be splashed all over Dubai as Fast And The Furious 7 will  begin filming in the Emirate. Locations of filming haven’t officially been disclosed yet, however you can be sure you’ll hear the roar of the engines even if you don’t see the cars.

Teasing film fans via social media this week, star of the franchise Vin Diesel wrote on his Facebook: “P.s. About to take a long flight to Dubai, for the first time.”

Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris also star.

Also in town is Bollywood superstar Anil Kapoor, the star of Mission Impossible 4, also shot in Dubai. Kapoor’s film Welcome Back has received permission to film on the 155th floor of the Burj Khalifa.
