Plus Minus Session will feature Kollektiv Turmstrasse stars Christian Hilscher and Nico Plagemann at Nasimi Beach at Atlantis The Palm on Friday April 11. He’s what our friends at Hype have to say about it.

It’s likely to be an emotional journey at the next Plus Minus Session when Kollektiv Turmstrasse brings their live performance to the beachside venue.

Signed to Solomun’s Diynamic label, the pair – Christian Hilscher and Nico Plagemann – won over clubbers with tracks like Turmstrasse, Ordinary and Like The First Day.

Their sense of emotion – informed by their upbringing on Germany’s visually arresting Baltic Sea coast – lends their productions human warmth, allowing them to slot effortlessly into both club and home listening scenarios.

“Wide, open, top-heavy, all-consuming, shifted, simple – these are the words we use to describe our sound,” said Nico. “We use both digital and analogue. But first and foremost we produce music for ourselves. We don’t predetermine whether it’s suited for home or a club environment.”

Describing their set-up, Nico added: “We play live with two MacBooks with over a thousand clips, which gives us a lot of space to improvise. The whole thing is controlled with one iPad each, and that allows us to work very fast and intuitively.”

Plus Minus are on a roll with their bookings and have Âme and James Zabiela lined up for their next two parties, on May 2 and May 30 respectively. In the meantime, be sure to check out Kollektiv Turmstrasse when they hit town on Friday.
