What’s On serialises Wouter Kingma’s book, Dubai Aerial Tour. Part One shows professional pictures of Dubai Marina, JLT, JBR, Emirates Golf Club from above.

The beauty of Dubai and its architecture isn’t exactly a tough sell; it’s a city of breathtaking, record-breaking buildings stunning panoramas and feats of man-made brilliance unrivalled anywhere else in the world.

But what Wouter Kingma has done is package this wonder in a way not previously seen, in his book, ‘Dubai Aerial Tour’, which What’s On is serialising this week.

The book, packed with images taken from a helicopter above the city, sweeps up the reader in a journey throughout Dubai, capturing everything from historic locales like Bur Dubai and Deira, to modern neighbourhoods like Downtown, home to the Burj Khalifa, and Dubai Marina, unfurling like a flight plan from Al Ghusais and to the hinterland.

The photographer, himself a resident of the UAE for more than a decade, says the book is “about sharing visual stories of Dubai and celebrating the city from an aerial perspective”.

He says: “Taking photographs of this city, home to a distinct fusion of heritage, culture and innovation, proved to be a highly satisfying experience for me.”

In Part One of our series, we profile one of the newer districts of Dubai, the Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Jumeirah Lake Towers. As the week progresses, you’ll see amazing images of the coastline, Downtown and the desert.
