The best thing about Bounce, is it makes even the wimpy kids seems totally cool. It wasn’t even a case of taking it slow at first. From the minute we stood at the door to the giant free-jumping space, the shackles off, our heart-rate was up and the big kid in us was bursting to get out. Yours will be too.

Located opposite Lime Tree Café in the heart of Al Quoz, Bounce is a 25,000 square feet fun factory housing more than 80 trampolines, a performance area, running walls, basketball hoops, a dodgeball court and a giant airbag for the adventurous among you to practice an ever-expanding repertoire of tricks. It will have you bouncing off the walls. Literally.

Hailing from Australia, the team say it’s ‘like a giant skate park, with stunt grade airbags and circus grade padding – think Parkour made easy, or gymnastics in an environment where anyone can do it.’ And they’re not wrong.

CHECK OUT HOW WE DID…

The ease with which our Bambi-legged team took to the ‘tramps’ was really quite surprising. Of course, our achievements – the highlight of which was a frontflip into the warm embrace of the foam pit – were overshadowed by the amazing stunts on show from the team. We joined them on a day when they were preparing their routine for opening night, a special show of which we’ll have pictures on What’s On soon. The facility has a capacity of 115 at any one time, and prior booking is essential.

For Joe Public, the concept is simple; fun. That 10 minutes of jumping is the equivalent to running for 33 minutes is a mere bonus. In fact, it’s among the best workouts around – low impact and proven to improve bone density, muscle toning and cardiovascular fitness.

Speaking to What’s On prior to opening, chief operations officer Doran Davies was quick to clarify that it’s not a gym. He said: “Bounce is about freedom, enjoyment and having fun – everyone likes to jump up and down. The fact that you get a great workout at the same time is a bonus.”

So what else do you need to know? The lingo. Peanut Butter, Salmon and Bum Drop are all kinds of jump, while ‘wall running’ should only really enter your vernacular after several visits. If you’re brave, though, the team are on hand to offer tips. After five minutes, we’re sure you’ll fancy your chances.
