Zombie face painting at Cosplay Nation - it's a no-brainer
What’s On has details of the annual Cosplay Nation UAE day, a free event taking place this weekend. Find out about the zombie face painting workshop.
For some folks, getting dressed up for Halloween means throwing on some pre-bought costume and calling it a day – and that’s if they celebrate it at all. But if you’re looking to go all out on October 31, a free event at Mr Ben’s Costume Closet this weekend will help you on your way.
On September 12, the popular costume store in Dubai hosts the second annual Cosplay Nation UAE day. For those not in the know, Cosplay means dressing up as a character from a book, film or video game, and taking great pains to get your costume and make-up as detailed and authentic as possible.
The main attraction of the event is set to be the zombie face painting workshop, aimed particularly at anyone who’s signed up for the inaugural Contagion Run, Dubai’s first ever zombie 5K race taking place, aptly, on October 31 at Nad Al Sheba’s running track. To register, visit premieronline.com. If you’re planning to run as the undead (and why wouldn’t you?), it’s the perfect time to get some costume tips, with experienced make-up artists on hand to help you perfect that “Walking Dead” look using everything from fake blood to latex prosthetics and modelling wax.
Cosplay Nation UAE will be run in conjunction with Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC), which, coincidentally, is the best place in Dubai to see the city’s cosplayers in action. This year’s Comic Con saw pop culture lovers dress up as everything from Star Wars’ Princess Leia to Frozen’s Elsa.
