If you weren’t one of the lucky few who caught DJ Jazzy Jeff at Barasti’s sold out New Year’s Eve party last year, then you’re in luck; the talented turntablist will be returning to the beach bar this Halloween.

Clearly the hip-hop star, (real name is Jeff Townes), just can’t get enough of Dubai – he also performed at Cirque le Soir earlier this year.

Of course, plenty of people (Team What’s On included) will be hoping for a repeat performance of last year’s impromptu Fresh Prince of Bel Air reunion at the beach venue, when the DJ was joined by best friend and hip hop partner-in-crime Will Smith. The Men in Black actor  got up on the stage and happily performed some of his old hits, including Getting Jiggy Wit It, for the nostalgic crowd.

There’s every reason to suspect it might happen, too – Smith seemed rather taken with Dubai during his visit earlier this year. He was spotted on social media really getting into the spirit of things with skydiving, desert safaris and visits to various restaurants including Toku and The Act.

Plus, there’s the fact that he and Jazzy really do go way back. The long time collaborators have been making music together since early 80s. As well as playing best friends in The Fresh Prince, the hip-hop duo also provided the soundtrack to many a 90s summer with hits like Summertime and Boom! Shake the Room.

Barasti has undergone something of an overhaul during the summer months, filling in the swimming pool/swamp/giant puddle space in front of their renowned big sports screen, while also sprucing up the live performance area. All the traditional bits and pieces that have made it an institution in Dubai remain, though, and the announcement of Jazzy is the first of many expected to be made in the coming weeks and months.
