If doing a bungee jump has long been languishing on your bucket list, Dubai’s Gravity Zone are giving you the chance to put a big proud tick by it, and do some good at the same time.

The adrenaline junkies are heading to the Dubai Autodrome this weekend as part of a 24-hour burpee world record attempt by fitness fiends Lee Ryan and Eva Clarke. As part of the on-site entertainment, people are being invited to take a leap from 50m up at a discounted rate of Dhs100, with proceeds going to the World Child Cancer Foundation.

The same charity, which helps children in underdeveloped countries with limited access to treatment, is also benefiting from Clarke and Ryan’s world record. The pair have hoped to raise $50,000 breaking numerous activity-based records. The UAE-based personal trainers top target is 15,000 burpees, a new Guinness World Record for the most performed by a male and female team pair in 24 hours.

Speaking to What’s On late last year, Lee said: “We have been blessed with the physical and mental ability to attempt and even think of trying something. Why wouldn’t we use it to help the people that are not so lucky. Putting our bodies on the line to help raise the awareness and funds to help these kids, give them a reason a smile and a chance at life.”

They’ll also be attempting a number of other records on the day, including the most burpees in one minute.

It’s not Dubai-dweller Lee’s first try at breaking a world record. The Adidas-sponsored athlete has twice attempted to run the ‘fastest marathon while carrying a 20lb backpack’, a challenge he will be taking on again come April 26 at the Virgin Money London Marathon 2015.

Abu Dhabi-based Eva is already a world record holder, having claimed the record for most number of knuckle push-ups performed in a 24 hour period.
