Having scooped two awards in its first year, the gang at Q43 are in the mood for throwing a big old birthday party. And in an age where the term ‘superstar DJ’ is attached to too many EDM kids barely out of short trousers, the Q43 crew has locked in the legend that is David Morales to bring the house down.

Q43 picked up the gong for Best New Bar at the Hype Awards in April and followed that up recently by scooping Best Ladies Night at the What’s On Awards. “It’s been a great year for us,” said manager Spencer Hartwell.

“But ultimately it’s the people that make this place a great hangout and we’re very aware of that so we want to give something back.”

When it comes to house music pedigree, David Morales is a thoroughbred. One of the world’s first superstar DJs and an unofficial remix king, with everyone from underground house and disco acts to mainstream artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna and Mariah Carey after a famous Morales re-rub, the American learned his trade in famous New York clubs such as the Loft, Paradise Garage and The Sound Factory, and became a regular guest DJ at places like Pacha Ibiza and London’s Ministry of Sound.

His biggest hit was the feel-good house anthem Needin U, released in 1998, which was a club and chart smash all over the world.

Morales, still going strong with DJ sets in all corners of the globe, and new track Lovin’ – due for release in January – already receiving props, is supported by local legends Smokingroove. This will not be a quiet evening.
