What’s On details the Red Bull Air Race World Championship Abu Dhabi stage, with tickets on sale now for the Corniche event, Feb 13 and 14.

Tickets for the Red Bull Air Race World Championship are now on sale.

Returning to the capital for the 2015 season opener, the Red Bull Air Race will see daredevil pilots perform aerial acrobatics along the Corniche Breakwater on February 13 and 14.

This year’s edition will see 14 pilots from around the world take part in the giant slalom course. The high speed, low altitude races will see pilots fly one-seater planes and manoeuver around giant, inflatable pylons that form ‘Air Gates.’

In addition to the UAE, races will also take place in Hungary, Austria, United Kingdom and the United States. Japan and Russia are also hosting inaugural races for the 2015 season.

After a three-year hiatus beginning in 2011, in which races were stopped around the world, the championship returned to Abu Dhabi last year with a number of safety improvements including the standardisation of engines and propellers for pilots.

British pilot Paul Bonhomme, who took first place in Abu Dhabi’s race last year but finished third overall, said of the upcoming season, “For 2015 we’re going to have better pre-race preparation. It’s all about preparation, you have to put the work in and then the decision making on race day is easy – and it works.”

Bonhomme is currently the most successful pilot in the history of the race, with 39 podiums, 15 race wins and two championship titles and is hoping for another trophy this time round.
