Calling all UAE gamers, put down that joystick and listen up. The Middle East’s largest video game expo GAMES 15 is set to open its doors in Dubai from September 10 to 12.

With the organisers behind the massive Middle East Film and Comic Con taking the lead, this year’s event promises to be even bigger and better.

For starters, GAMES is joining forces with ESL (Electronic Sports League) to bring global cash-prize tournaments to the 2015 event. With millions of fans worldwide, eSports tournaments see teams of gamers go head-to-head in a multiplayer game experience, as crowds cheer them on.

Fans will have the chance to get hands on with the latest games, some ahead of their release dates, from the likes of Sony PlayStation and XBOX. A host of top-notch celebrity guests can also be expected from the organisers who brought William Shatner and The X-File’s Gillian Anderson to the 2015 Comic Con.

As part of powering up this year, GAME 15 is branching out with dedicated areas for mobile and tabletop gaming.

Closing the fun and games on Saturday will be the popular Video Games Live (VGL) performance where tracks from games such as Halo, World Of Warcraft and Guitar Hero play over exclusive video footage, with synchronised lighting and interactive segments. More than a million people have attended VGL performances around the world, and two spin-off albums debuted in the Billboard Top 10 in America – proving that its fan base extends beyond those familiar with Assassin’s Creed.

Last year’s expo was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, but the organizers are yet to confirm where GAMES 15 will take place. What’s On will keep you updated.
