Gladiators, Are You Ready? – New indoor obstacle race in Dubai
What’s On has details of a new indoor obstacle race called Dubai Gladiators, as well as the Desert Warrior, Ice Warrior and Spartan Race.
Remember the TV show Gladiators? That pinnacle of 90s entertainment, all WWE-style bravado and unfortunate haircuts? Well, you’re not the only one feeling nostalgic – a brand new event in Dubai aims to capture some of that competitive fun.
Dubai Gladiators Challenge is a three-day event where wannabes of all ages can compete, either as corporate teams (Thursday), individuals (Friday) or regular teams (Saturday). The tournament includes archery, Gladiators-style podium jousting and an obstacle course, and it all takes place in the air-conditioned hall of Dubai Sports City’s The Dome. To really get into the spirit of things, fancy dress costumes are encouraged.
Dubai Gladiators promises to be a fun day out for the whole family, with a free climbing wall, bouncy castle and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat (not to mention a licensed bar).

If you’re in need of some inspiration (or just want to marvel at what qualified as sportswear in the mid-90s), this video should refresh your memory.
Desert Warrior Challenge
Back for its second year, this challenging obstacle course sees you climbing, crawling, swinging and sprinting (well, jogging) across the desert dunes. Look out for the Brain Freeze – a pool of icy water that you have to go through, not around. See how Team What’s On got on last year.
Ice Warrior Challenge
For a very different kind of challenge, pit your wits against the gruelling Ice Warrior. It takes place in Ski Dubai, where you have to take on 15 obstacles with names such as Cargo Net Crawl, Zorb Ball Maze, and Black Run Climb. Sign up now – but wrap up warm.
Spartan Race UAE
Spartan Races are famous around the world – well over 500, 000 individuals have taken part in Spartan Races to date – and are known for testing even the fittest participants to their limits with a military-style obstacle course. Expect lots of mud, sweat and (possibly) tears. Think you have what it takes?
