Dubai’s southern-most suburb has five-star hotels, cool shops and authentic restaurants.

Explore: Ibn Battuta Mall

The extravagant and colourful mall design steals the show at this mall, which traces the journey of 14th-century explorer Ibn Battuta in six themed courts (Andalusia, China, Egypt, India, Persia and Tunisia). Forget the shops, grab and coffee and marvel at the intricate architecture.

SHOP: Urban Peak

Outdoor enthusiasts in the UAE will know all about Urban Peak. From outdoor equipment, camping systems and activewear, Urban Peak has brought some of the best brands in adventure gear to Dubai. We love these quirky monster-themed chalk bags for climbers.

DINE: The Kebab Shop

If, like us, you find it hard to get your hands on a British-style doner kebab in Dubai, we suggest you track down The Kebab Shop in Discovery Gardens. While it certainly won’t help with your waistline, the tender lamb, slow cooked then lightly grilled with oil over an open oven, is tasty. Add a dollop of tamarind paste and garlic mayo and you’ll be in doner heaven.

Shop 1, Building 19, Zen Cluster 3, Discovery Gardens, Tel:(04) 4475457. tks.ae
