Grub to be grateful for: where to fill up on turkey and pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving in Dubai.

INDULGENT: Perry & Blackwelder

Perry-&-Blackwelder

We have three words for you: deep-fried turkey. That’s right. Perry & Blackwelder is the place to be if you want a trailer trash take on the traditional Thanksgiving dish. P&B’s Louisiana-style birds will be fried in peanut oil and then injected with a creole butter seasoning. You’ll also find candied yams, collard greens and fried cabbage on the menu, plus desserts including peach cobbler and pecan pie. We’re stockpiling our stretchiest clothes in anticipation.

FANCY: Cut by Wolfgang Puck

The man behind this restaurant does the cooking for the Oscars, so prepare your taste buds for a turkey that Brangelina and Ben Affleck would approve of. If you’re after an alternative to turkey (let’s face it, there’s plenty of time for that next month), Cut has also lined up a buttery roasted lobster and some truffle-infused mac and cheese for the occasion. In addition to the special menu, the restaurant will host a Thanksgiving themed brunch on Friday, November 27, priced at Dhs290 with soft drinks, Dhs440 with house beverages, or Dhs640 with champagne.

BUDGET FRIENDLY: Claw

claw

You can pretend you’re in an episode of Friends at Claw’s Thanksgiving celebration, which, in addition to a groaning buffet loaded with turkey, pumpkin pie and other traditional dishes, will also feature live American football on big screens. It’s just Dhs150 for unlimited trips to the buffet, but drinks cost extra.

The New York-style gastropub in the H Hotel is planning a Thanksgiving themed evening brunch on November 26, featuring roasted squash soup, turkey, maple braised short rib, sweet potato bake and more. We also spied a pecan tart with bourbon ice cream on the menu.

BRITISH TWIST: The Ivy

The-IVY

It’s an all-American holiday, but that doesn’t mean the Brits can’t whip up a mean Thanksgiving menu, and The Ivy’s is a prime example. Dubai’s version of one of London’s most famous restaurants is cooking up a set menu featuring cornbread and mac and cheese, traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, and crunchy caramel apple pie or sweet potato casserole to finish. The chefs will also whip you up a takeaway Thanksgiving feast to serve at home if you give them 48 hours’ notice.

November 22 to 28
The Boulevard, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, noon to 11pm, Dhs350. Tel: (04) 3198767. Metro: Emirates Towers. jumeirah.com

BEST PUMPKIN PIE: Clinton Street Baking Company

CLINTON-STREET

Their pumpkin pie alone is enough to have us hotfooting it to Burj Views come November 26, but now Clinton St has thrown jalapeño cornbread stuffing into the mix. The intriguing sounding dish is part of a special Thanksgiving menu, which also features turkey, cranberry sauce and all the other usual suspects.

SWEET TREAT: Thanksgiving themed s’mores

SUGARMOO

The baking wizards at SugarMoo have come up with this special s’more (that’s a traditional American campfire treat, for those of you who didn’t grow up reading The Babysitters’ Club books) inspired by the traditional Thanksgiving turkey. The perfect seasonal treat for a loved one with a sweet tooth.
