“Anxiety, panic attacks and depression” have forced the singer to take a career break.

Just days after tickets for Elton John’s December gig went on sale it’s been announced that Selena Gomez is cancelling her November 15 Dubai concert.

The Kill ‘Em With Kindness singer was due to play at the Autism Rocks Arena (also where Sir Elton will be performing) but has had to cancel due to her health.

The singer revealed just over a year ago that she suffers from the autoimmune disease Lupus, however it’s plagued her for a while now. In 2013 she underwent chemotherapy treatment to try and battle the disease.

“I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges,” the 24-year-old told her fans.

It’s not just her Dubai gig that she’s cancelling, she’s announced that she’s taking a hiatus from her career entirely, meaning she’s likely to cancel the rest of her 2016 tour (which was planned mostly for Europe and South America).

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,” Gomez explained.

Thomas Ovesen, the CEO of the company that was bringing Gomez here in November, 117 Live, has said that there are plans for the pop star to come to Dubai as soon as possible: “We look forward to announcing a new date with Selena Gomez whenever possible,” he explained.
