One of our favourite little laneways in Dubai has just gotten even cooler…

You know the cute cobblestone walkways of The Courtyard in Al Quoz? Well they have just been turned into into a boutique shopping area called The Collective.

Yes, that little (and until-now underused) laneway right near The Lime Tree in Al Quoz has been transformed. Put together by the people behind The Ripe Market, The Collective will house cool up-and-coming concepts, designers and shops, all from the UAE.

So who will be there? You’ll find a store from The Movement, a bicycle shop that sells super twee, often basket-wielding bikes among other things:

Made By Native, who create luxury artisan leather goods, will be there too:

The quirky and yet extremely chic homewares of Tribe can now be found there:

If you’re after a rug with heritage and a story (but that’s also very on trend) you’ll be able to stop by The Kilim Shop, and there will also be a home store called Générale, a gift store dubbed Georges of Dubai and bucolic arrangements from the talented florists at Bliss.

Oh, and the very good news is that you’ll be able to pick up an actual flat white or properly extracted espresso along the laneway thanks to the presence of Brew (which currently has a cafe in Umm Suqeim):

Ripe Organic will also be in the alleyway with their Ripe Organic Kitchen, which will be home to workshops and the like for foodies. Plus, there will be pop-up markets and yoga classes.

So, when does it all open up? It already is! The Collective’s stores are currently open Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 7pm.

Also, on Friday November 4 The Collective will host an opening party market from 9am to 5pm. That day’s market will see special food pop-ups, some hip new concept stores on show and live music from local artists.

The Collective, The Courtyard, Al Quoz, 9am to 7pm, Saturday to Thursday. Tel: (04) 315 7000.
