This video has us missing the winter weather already…

To say that the last couple of month’s worth of Dubai weather have been unusual would be an understatement.

We’ve seen week-long morning fog, downright frightening thunderstorms and torrential rain that’s caused any number of disruptions to the city.

One positive thing that has come out of all of this (aside from the markedly cooler weather) is some of the awesome photography showing off the city out of its natural, sweaty element.

One rather enterprising Finnish-born photographer named Teemu stitched together this stunning timelapse video from high above the city’s skyline.

Entitled ‘Winter in Dubai’, the three-and-a-half minute clip shows fog slowly rolling over, and completely engulfing Dubai Marina (the shot of it passing from night to sunrise is particularly special) as well as a massive lightning strike hitting the Burj Khalifa at full force. The scale and majesty of it is impressive, and the skyline view is not something we often catch a glimpse of.

Filmed over four grueling months in which he stayed up countless nights in order to capture the footage, Teemu attributes his ability to snag such awesome shots to having “been incredibly lucky to be in the right place at the right time on several magical occasions.”

In a blog about the video he notes that his two primary shooting spots were the top floor of the Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Rd and the Cayan Tower which he says “has one of the best rooftop views of Dubai Marina.”

Based on what we’ve seen from his video, we’re inclined to agree.
