A new Barsha Heights all-day eatery, a meat lover’s paradise in JBR and a very British afternoon tea party…

From unique dining experiences, to wallet-friendly dinner deals perfect for pairs, we seem to have it all when it comes to new restaurants in Dubai.

But as the Dubai foodie scene gets bigger and bigger, we’re seeing both old and new concepts bringing a fresh approach to dining in Dubai.

So here are three restaurants on our radar to check out this weekend (here are the four fresh places we pointed out last week).

THE BRAND NEW

Local: The all-day eatery in Barsha Heights

This is the first of three restaurants to open in TRYP by Wyndham, the new hotel in Barsha Heights. Local has an all-day menu of ‘great grub’ with international influences. It’s a bright, contemporary space complete with a bar (it’s not licensed yet, but will be) and an outdoor terrace. The well-priced menu includes spinach basil risotto (Dhs65), forest floor salad (Dhs45), and zaatar crusted salmon fillet (Dhs95), as well as a variety of live food stations. The terrace for the restaurant leads straight out onto the soon-to-open Barsha Heights park, and once that’s finished you’ll be able to walk your pup straight from the leafy-green park to the terrace.

TRYP by Wyndham, Al Saef 1 Street, Barsha Heights, daily 6.30am to midnight. Tel: (04) 247 6630. More info on website.

La Boheme: The unlicensed JBR spot for meat-lovers

It’s the first of two new restaurants to open in one of JBR’s grandest buildings, and after much anticipation La Boheme Magic is now open. It’s described as a ‘premium grill’ with ‘spectatular hand-crafted interiors’. There is also a private dining room, a shisha room and live entertainment to come. With a focus on premium meats, menu highlights include French rabbit cooked with foie gras and black truffle, 72-hour slow cooked ribs and roast pheasant with black truffle. There’s also a focus on game meat, a rotisserie and an open grill.

Opposite Amwaj Building, The Beach JBR, daily 12pm to 1am. Tel: (04) 240 8744. More info on Facebook

THE NEW MENU

Dukes Dubai: The Saturday afternoon ParTEA brunch

If it’s quintessentially British with a bit of a twist, you’ll find it at Dukes Dubai. The hotel has just launched several brand new brunches, and its Saturday partea brunch is one of them (it starts from Dhs195, full prices in the details below). Hosted at the third floor tea lounge, a tiered tower of finger sandwiches and mini savouries arrives first, with the option to order more of each of your favourites. Then there’s a buffet of sweet treats with everything from battenbergs and lemon meringue pie to red velvet cake and pint-size creme brulee. Fresh-from the oven scones finish off the afternoon. And not forgetting the tea. The staff bring round a box of loose leaf teas so you can take in the the aromas before you try them. It’s a chic, relaxed afternoon tea, and the ‘celebration tea’ alone is worth going back for.

The Tea Lounge, Dukes Dubai, Oceana Complex, Palm Jumeirah, Saturdays 2pm to 6pm, Dhs195 soft, Dhs240 with one glass of sparkling, Dhs340 with unlimited sparkling Dhs520 with unlimited French bubbles. Tel: (04) 317 6000. More info on website.
