A Business Bay bistro, a healthy all-day eatery, a new menu at a British favourite and an authentic Thai in a garden setting…

From unique dining experiences, to wallet-friendly dinner deals perfect for pairs, we seem to have it all when it comes to eating out in Dubai.

But as the Dubai foodie scene gets bigger and bigger, we’re seeing both old and new concepts bringing a fresh approach to dining in Dubai. So here are four restaurants on our radar to check out this weekend (here are the three fresh places we pointed out last week).

THE BRAND NEW

My Square: The all-day Business Bay bistro

The modern My Square restaurant has just opened in the brand new DoubleTree by Hilton in Bay Square. It features a bistro-style set up, an outdoor terrace, a bar and live cooking stations where guests can watch chefs at work. The all-day-dining concept offers a wide variety of dishes and flavours including Middle Eastern, Chinese, Indian and more. Enjoy a breakfast buffet, business lunch or themed dinner with live cooking options from the grill. A salad bar, sushi station and a wide selection of desserts are also available daily.

Bay Square 5, Business Bay, daily 6.30am to 11.30pm. Tel: (04) 551 1544. More info on website

Sesame: The healthy world food restaurant

Independent, home-grown concept Sesame is now open at Jumeirah’s Sunset Mall. It’s a collaborative venture by holistic chef (that’s a chef that cooks meals with the whole body and maximum nutrition in mind), Neha Jamani and healthy lifestyle advocate, Irina Sharma. Described as a “cozy, health-conscious restaurant”, the menu has also had input from Gohei Kishi, formerly executive chef at high-end Japanese spot Ramusake. It’s an all-day menu that doesn’t follow any specific cuisine, but uses familiar ingredients in fresh ways. Expect twists on a mushroom risotto, seaweed salad and banana pancakes.

Level 1, Sunset Mall, Jumeirah Beach Road, daily 7.30am to 10pm. Tel: (04) 339 1300. More info on website

THE NEW MENU

Rhodes W1: The British classic with a new menu

Acclaimed British chef, Gary Rhodes has unveiled a brand new à la carte menu at his Dubai Marina restaurant, Rhodes W1. The line-up features wholesome British classics with a touch of Anglo-French cooking, a style that the chef is famous for. New menu highlights include a Beetroot and Goat’s Cheese cake, Braised Beef with baby carrots and parsley mash, and a roast loin of lamb with a foie gras tartlet. It’s now available six days a week in the restaurant, or head out to the terrace for those picture-perfect Marina views.

Grosvenor House, Dubai Marina, Mon to Sat 7pm to 11.30pm. Tel: (04) 317 6000. More info on website

THE REVAMPED

Bamboo Kitchen: A new concept at a long-standing JBR hotel

Bamboo Kitchen is a traditional Thai restaurant with a large terrace surrounded by lush gardens and water features in the grounds of Dubai Marina’s Habtoor Grand Hotel. Occupying a site previously housing a seafood restaurant, it’s got a relaxed and vibe, with an extensive menu of Thailand’s signature dishes. Menu highlights include the signature Pad Thai, a Massaman Nue (beef striploin curry) and a yellow curry lobster called Goong Mong Korn Pad Pong Kari. Sounds delicious.

Habtoor Grand, Dubai Marina, daily 12.30pm to 3.30pm, 7.30pm to 11.30pm. Tel: (04) 408 4257. More info on website
