And you can watch the whole thing live for just Dhs50…

Over the weekend, six teams duked it out for a spot in tonight’s final of Dubai’s Premier Futsal League, but with one interesting twist – each team was captained by an international footballing legend.

Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldinho’s Delhi Dragons, and the Mumbai Warriors, captained by Ryan Giggs of Manchester United fame, were the two teams who emerged victorious, securing a place in tonight’s final.

The teams will square off at Al Wasl Sports Club, with a kick-off scheduled for 7pm, in what should be a fun way for fans to catch these two footballing greats in action.

Wait, so how does futsal differ from regular football?

There are a number of key differences, with the main ones being the pitch size, number of players and the length of matches.

Premier Futsal League teams consist of only five players each and games are split into two 20 minute halves.

The pitch size is also considerably smaller than a standard football field, meaning that games tend to be played at a quicker pace and with a much higher score count.

For instance Ronaldinho and his Delhi Dragons demolished Paul Scholes’ Bengaluru Royals 8-4 in a semifinal match at the tournament yesterday, making for pretty nail-biting viewing.

Other notable football players that captained the remaining teams in the tournament included Paul Scholes, Hernan Crespo, Deco and Michel Salgado.

Tickets start at Dhs50 and are available via PlatinumList.
