As 2017 turns to 2018, here’s how to see in the New Year in style…

1. Say farewell to 2017 with one final fiesta

The pretty-as-a-picture Jean-Georges in Four Seasons Jumeirah will be hosting a retro party for diners this New Year’s Eve. Monday January 1

2. Head to a recovery brunch

Whether you want to keep the party going or recover from the night before, Nikki Beach is throwing a recovery-style party brunch from 2pm to 5pm on New Year’s Day. 3. Visit Dubai Frame

After a build-up which has lasted more than two years, Dubai Frame will open to the public on January 1. The new attraction consists of two transparent 150-metre-high towers that are connected by a 93-metre bridge at the top. An elevator will take visitors up to the bridge, where they can admire the panoramic views over old and new Dubai. Visitors will also journey through the city’s history and evolution which will be told through museums and 3D presentations.

Tuesday January 2

4. Enjoy free drinks at a new ladies’ night

The ever popular Wanderlust brunch is launching its ladies’ night on Tuesday 2nd January at Bridgewater. Ladies receive three complimentary beverages between 5pm and 1am at the Marriott Marquis spot, plus there’s live entertainment by Australia’s X Factor finalist Jaymie Deville & Wanderlust’s resident DJ Adam J playing all the dance-along hits.

5. Get your final festive fill at Riverland

Riverland is wrapping up its second season of Festive on the River this week. The free-to-enter destination within Dubai Parks and Resorts will be transforming into a winter wonderland until January 6, complete with Dubai’s first pop-up ice-rink, an outdoor cinema screening the season’s favourite movies, and a traditional, European-style festive market.

Wednesday January 3

6. Find your zen with a Qigong class

For those wishing to kick start a more healthy lifestyle in 2018, there’s a weekly Qigong class at Just Be Holistic Centre in Jumeirah. The purpose of the Level 1 of Zhong Yuan Qigong is to activate the basic energy and improve its quality, which is what you’ll master in this beginners Qigong class. It’s hosted by Ania Shnyukova, a certified Qigong instructor for more than a decade.

7. See a hip hop star at Cavalli Club

Los Angeles rapper, producer, and performer Kid Ink will be doing a live performance at glitzy Sheikh Zayed Road club Cavalli on Wednesday January 3. The rapper is no stranger to the UAE, having performed here several times in 2017.

8. Enjoy half price shakes with a milkshake happy hour

For those who are doing dry January, there’s a new happy hour at Clinton St Baking company you’ll want to know about. The all-American diner has launched a “Milkshake Happy Hour” every day from 4pm to 7pm, offering buy-one-get-one-free on a selection of eight milkshakes. They’re priced at Dhs35 for two during the happy hour at both the City Walk and Burj View branch.
