A quarter of a million people are expected to arrive in Dubai between now and New Year’s Day…

Prepare for New Year’s madness at Dubai International Airport.

That’s the message from Emirates, as one of the world’s most famous New Year’s Eve destinations prepares to ring in 2018.

The airline says more than 250,000 people are expected to arrive in Dubai from December 28 until just after New Year’s Day, while 200,000 travellers will be departing Dubai.

More than 350,000 travellers will be connecting through Emirates’ dedicated Terminal 3 facilities at Dubai International Airport during the same time period.

According to Emirates, the busiest time for departures will start on January 1 in the afternoon, and continue through to January 3.

Remember, there are also road works and major infrastructure enhancements happening around the main airport roads and highways right now, which means you may need to build in extra travel time to avoid potential delays.

Emirates has reminded customers that they should arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight departs – you can check in at the airport as early as six hours in advance.

All passengers are requested to check in no later than two hours prior to departure (those who try to check in less than 60 minutes before their flight will not be accepted for travel).

Dubai’s busy holiday period has so far been blighted with foggy weather conditions, with several flights having to be diverted or delayed.
