This is the official school calendar…

The 2018-2019 academic calendar for private schools in Dubai has been released by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

This calendar relates to schools that begin their academic year in April.

The authority said all private schools must also tentatively communicate public holidays – like Eid and National Day – to parents. These will be confirmed once declared by the UAE government (for more information on likely public holidays in 2018, read our guide here).

April 2, 2018: Start of academic year

July 1, 2018: Summer break begins

September 2, 2018: Return from summer break

December 16, 2018: Winter break begins

January 6, 2019: Return from winter break*

Between March 14-21, 2019: End of academic year

April 1, 2019: New academic year begins

*One thing to note – schools may choose to reduce or extend the winter break, based on KHDA approval (which means it could either be two weeks or four weeks, depending on your child’s school).
