The export from London’s Mayfair is the latest addition to the Restaurant Village at the Four Seasons Resort Jumeirah

With no shortage of new restaurants opening in the city, there’s a brand new one to add to the list – and it’s well worth checking out.

The just-opened Scalini, is a quintessential fine-dining Italian, that serves up a Dubai-twist to its traditional trattoria menu.

Scalini Dubai has a lot of features similar to the London branch, which opened in 1988.

Many of the team have come over from the UK to assist in the opening of the Dubai branch, so you can expect a service level that’s second to none. Dishes are silver served, the traditional bread basket is complimented by condiments such as olives, parmesan and tomato and basil, and you can expect a beverage order to be taken by your dedicated sommelier.

It’s fine dining at it’s finest.

The space itself is a contemporary mix of bright artworks, dim lights, white tablecloths and navy leathers. It mixes authentic Italian charm well with a space that’s more up-to-date with a Dubai market. Welcoming, warm, but slightly formal too.

The venue also boasts an outdoor terrace offering a more lounge-style vibe, and high bar stools invite guests to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. The cocktail menu is concise, with only a half dozen signatures on the menu, but they’re all well thought out, and a passionfruit and chili based beverage is one we’ll be going back for.

For the food, you can expect a typical Italian trattoria menu, led by ‘antipasti’ and ‘zuppe’ into an extensive pasta section, which moves to a final page of ‘padella’ and sides. You’ll find Dubai classics such as a beef tartare and signature burrata alongside signature spaghetti dishes served in a pasta wheel and tossed with truffle.

It’s high calibre cuisine, curated by award-winning chef, Monserrato Marini.

And if you head over for dinner, keep your eye out as you might just spot a star or two. Scalini in the UK has been frequented by the likes of Kate Moss, Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Simon Cowell.

Scalini Dubai, Four Seasons Resort Jumeirah Beach Road, daily 12pm to 12am. Tel: (04) 349 0068.
