The Lion by Nick & Scott is now open
The lauded local duo have taken over a British pub…
You know that East End-inspired pub in The H Dubai, The Black Lion? Well, it’s undergone a bit of a makeover. It’s now called ‘The Lion’, and its new landlords are none other than homegrown culinary heroes Nick Alvis and Scott Price, aka Nick & Scott.
If those names sound familiar, it’s because the duo is behind Folly by Nick & Scott in the Souk Madinat Jumeirah. Since opening at the end of 2016, it’s become a firm What’s On favourite, with outstanding views to match a spectacular modern European menu.
Folly also has one of the most popular happy hours in Dubai – so it’s no surprise that the pair’s latest venture comes with some pretty brilliant deals, too.
Happy hour runs from 4pm to 7pm Saturday to Thursday, with drinks priced at Dhs33. Every Tuesday, The Lion will host a curry night called Ruby Tuesdays where you get unlimited curry and three drinks for Dhs125.
On weekdays at lunchtime you can pop in for a toastie and a cup of tea for Dhs48, while on Saturdays and Sundays there’s a Match of the Day Roast deal, where you can tuck into a traditional English roast with all the trimmings and a pint for Dhs110.
What else is on the menu? There’s a range of tasty-sounding starters and snacks, like buttermilk chicken wings with lime and green chili (Dhs45) and sausage rolls with BBQ dip (Dhs42).
The aforementioned toasties (Dhs42) also sound like a good time – think classy combinations like beef and horseradish, and mature cheddar and pickled red onion.
For mains, you’ll find pub favourites like fish and chips (Dhs90), rib-eye steak with hand-cut chips (Dhs120) and Angus burger in a sourdough bun with veal pancetta (Dhs82). We also spied sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble with custard on the desserts menu (Dhs38).
One thing is for sure – if anyone can make us excited about pub grub, it’s Nick & Scott. We can’t wait to check it out.
