UAE petrol prices are going up again in September

Petrol prices in the UAE are set to increase for the second month in a row.

In September, vehicle owners will pay Dhs2.59 a litre for Super 98, up from Dhs2.57. Special 95 will cost Dhs2.48, up from Dhs2.46, while the price of diesel will rise to Dhs2.64 from Dhs2.63.

All prices include the VAT rate of 5 per cent.

The UAE’s Ministry of Energy first began setting fuel prices based on average global prices in August 2015. Before that, the price of petrol in the UAE was subsidised by the government, which shielded consumers from global fluctuations in the cost of petrol.
