Here’s a peek at what to expect when the super-sized exhibition site is completed…

Expo 2020 is less than 800 days away and construction on the site is in full swing. The six-month long event will run from October 20, 2020 until April 10, 2021 and will see Dubai open its doors to more than 170 countries.

Earlier this month we published new images showing that all the major design elements are complete, including Al Wasl Plaza – the iconic 50-metre wide, 67.5-metre tall domed space that will be the beating heart of Expo 2020.

While construction is on track the site is still a ways off from being finished, so to whet our appetites for what to expect Dubai Media Office has released a video presenting a virtual tour of the Expo site masterplan.

The 3:40-long video shows the realised versions of the expo’s three theme districts – Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability – each with their distinct thematic architecture.

We also get a peek inside Al Wasl Plaza, highlighting it as a gathering place for visitors with a central staging area likely to be used for concerts and other entertainment.

The video also offers a glimpse at how the new Dubai Metro line (complete with its own station) that is being constructed especially for Expo 2020 will ferry visitors to and from the site.

When completed, the super-sized exhibition space will be a whopping 4.38km sq and expects to host over 25 million visitors throughout its six month duration.
