It will this year be home to a 58 metre tall Ferris Wheel, bi-weekly fireworks shows, a circus, a floating market and more than 30 rides…

Global Village fans, get excited – the popular theme park is set to open its gates for its 23rd season on October 30.

Haven’t experienced Global Village yet? Well, you definitely should – it’s one of the city’s top attractions over the cooler months.

The park is home to more than 25 pavilions, which represent over 75 cultures around the world. Within each pavilion, there’s shopping, shows, and amazing food. Want some delicious baklava? Head to the Syria pavilion. Craving some traditional Turkish delight? The Turkey pavilion has got mountains of the stuff.

So what’s new this year?

Well, there’s a brand new ‘Wheel of the World’ Ferris wheel, which at 58 metres tall will offer some impressive views across the park and surrounding Dubai Land area.

There’s also set to be a multicultural floating market – a world first – which will sail down the river serving up food from around the globe.

The Carnaval funfair area has had an upgrade and is now the biggest it’s ever been, featuring more than 30 rides and tonnes of new arcade-style games.

There’s also now a Circus experience at the Carnaval, which will include a ringmaster, high wire acts, clowns, wheel of death and plenty more, which we can’t wait to check out.

We’re pleased that the regular fireworks shows will return this year, taking place each week at 9pm on Thursdays and Fridays, while the ‘Parade of the World’ will be every Thursday at 7.30pm.

Last season, the park welcomed stars including Nancy Ajram and Liam Payne, and although no big names have been revealed yet, we can’t wait to see who Global Village welcomes this season.

As Global Village only opens for five months of the year (it will close again on April 7), it can get pretty busy – so be sure to plan ahead.
