Believe it or not, it’s been a whole year since La Mer opened to the public in October 2017. The beachfront district at Jumeirah 1 has quickly become one of our favourite weekend hangouts – and every time we visit, there’s something new to check out.

Here’s your handy guide to all the latest openings at La Mer…

FOOD

Al Shorfa Restaurant & Cafe

This Syrian restaurant offers a wide selection of traditional Aleppian dishes.

Maroosh

For over 30 years, Maroosh has been serving UAE residents authentic Lebanese dishes cooked the traditional way.

Dunkin’ Donuts

This classic serves coffees, all-day breakfasts, and of course, delicious donuts.

Jelly Belly Ice Cream

You’ll find over 50 gourmet ice creams and sorbets at this high-end parlour.

Babel recently opened at La Mer, bringing its own contemporary twist to Mediterranean classics, with a wide selection of mezze.

O’Doner

Tuck into a delicious range of doner kebabs and sizzling grills at this soulful Turkish restaurant.

London Dairy Cafe

Another great option for when you’re craving an ice cream by the sea. London Dairy also sells gourmet chocolates, sandwiches and pastries, as well as organic coffee.

Sikka Cafe

Sikka Cafe is a local dining concept, where Emirati food meets Indian and Iranian influences.

Van Houtte Cafe

This Canadian cafe specialises in coffee, but you’ll also find cakes, sandwiches and pizzas on the menu.

Falla

Falla offers a fusion of flavours – casual American and stylish Italian food.

Stars ‘n’ Bars

Popular sports bar Stars ‘n’ Bars is La Mer’s second licensed spot, after Masti. Originally from Monte Carlo, it’s the second Stars ‘n’ Bars outlet in the UAE (the other one is located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi).

P.F. Chang’s

This casual Asian restaurant chain serves up “American Chinese” cuisine.

Big Smoke Burger

La Mer is the third Dubai location for this Toronto-born burger joint, which serves handcrafted burgers made from Canadian AAA Angus beef.

Texas Roadhouse

Another popular chain restaurant, Texas Roadhouse specialises in steaks.

Alice Pizza

This Roman-style pizzeria serves artisan pizza by the slice. Alice Pizza has more than 140 locations in Italy, but this is the first outlet to open in the Middle East.

Pomme de Pain

Pomme de Pain is a French deli which serves up fresh sandwiches and pastries.

Five Guys

This fast food chain is famous for its made-to-order burgers, fries and shakes.

Kaftan

Kaftan, the beautiful Turkish restaurant on Jumeirah Beach Road, has opened a second branch.

AçaiXpress

This cafe specialises in healthy treats that incorporate the Brazilian acai berry, a known superfood.

Gossip

This local cafe has an interesting menu featuring Asian food with an Emirati twist.

A stalwart of the food truck scene, The Inventing Room now has a standalone restaurant. Expect creative dishes like the liquid nitrogen-infused frozen cheetos, and s’more ice cream sandwiches.

Tart Bakery is a French patisserie that specialises in baked treats.

Vicens

Catalonian nougat brand Torrons Vicens has a new outlet in La Mer.

SMK

SMK, which stands for Smoked Meat Kitchen, specialises in slow-cooked meat smoked over English oak (be sure to try the Brisket Bun).

Caution Caps

This shop specialises in customizing caps with creative graffiti work.

Glassing

Originally from Ibiza, celeb-favourite Glassing is the place to pick up an exclusive pair of sunglasses.

Hamac

This trendy beachwear store is the perfect place to pick up some flip flops before hitting the beach.
