The Irish rockers will return to the UAE for the first time in seven years…

Snow Patrol is the first of three headliners to be announced for the 2019 Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival.

The 17th edition of the legendary music festival will take place at Dubai’s Media City Amphitheatre from February 20 to 22, with the Irish rockers set to perform on the opening evening.

It will be the band’s first performance in the UAE since 2012, when they headlined the Sandance music festival on the Palm Jumeirah.

“We can’t wait to welcome the guys back to Dubai for their huge following not just in the UAE but also the wider GCC,” said Girish Bhat, managing director of Done Events, the new owners of the Dubai Jazz Festival.

Formed in Scotland in 1994, Snow Patrol shot to international fame in 2006 with the release of their album Eyes Open and the success of the single Chasing Cars, which was used in the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy.

The album went on to be the UK’s best-selling album of the year, while Chasing Cars was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 2007 Grammy Awards.

Since then, the band has gone on to release three more albums, including Wildness which was released in May this year.

Dubai Jazz Festival has brought some of the most famous artists on the planet to its stage since 2003. This year’s headliners were Duran Duran, Ricky Martin and John Legend, and last year saw performances by Enrique Iglesias, Mariah Carey and Tom Jones.

Done Events is set to announce the other two headliners for 2019 over the coming days. Tickets are priced from Dhs350, and are now available from Virgin Megastores and on the Dubai Jazz Festival website.
