The big brunch review: Friday brunch at Bulgari Yacht Club
A seafood feast with pool access at a swanky address makes this a brunch with big potential…
While Bulgari Yacht Club is mostly a space used by members and residents through the week, the waterfront spot has now begun welcoming non yacht owners (such as ourselves) with the launch of their new Friday brunch.
The generous four hour package runs from midday, and takes place each week at the nautically-themed yacht club restaurant. It’s an impressive space, with some serious Mediterranean-inspired vibes thanks to the decor and stunning pool deck downstairs.
On our visit, we pick a seat on the an al fresco terrace which overlooks the 50-boat marina.
Unsurprisingly, the menu is heavily seafood focused and starts with a half dozen fresh oysters, followed by the rest of the ‘Benvenuto’ course, which arrives as miniature servings of individual dishes such as marinated smoked salmon, green pea puree with octopus and a cold watermelon gazpacho.
The food from here is designed to be shared, and next up portions of antipasti including a cold seafood salad, black venere rice with cherry tomatoes, bresaola on a bed of rocket and parmesan and tuna stuffed baby capsicum fill our table. Each course is light, but plentiful portions mean this feast fills you up fast.
By the arrival of the main courses (there’s five generous portions in total), we’re feeling slightly overwhelmed by the table full of food sat in front of us. Again, all the dishes are fresh, with two tasty pasta dishes and a mixed grill of seafood our favourites, but we’re unable to finish it all. Our server later advises that their regular brunchers typically choose one or two mains; something we wish we’d known at the start.
A dessert platter is a more manageable size, and features an Italian-focused array such as tiramisu and a sweet brioche with gelato, as well as one of the best pear tarts we’ve tasted in the city.
Before your food coma strikes, guests are invited to head down to the pristine pool deck where you can perch up by the bar or head poolside to soak up the sun.
