More than 30,000 runners are set to take to the streets for the annual race…

The Dubai Marathon is back this weekend on Friday January 25, and as runners from around the globe take to the streets of Dubai, a number of road closures may affect your Thursday evening, or Friday morning drive.

Road closures will begin from midnight on Thursday and roads will remain closed until Friday January 25 at 1pm.

The 42km race will start near the Dubai Police academy, on Umm Suqeim Road, running through Al Sufouh, Dubai Media City, round the corner in Mina Seyahi at the Westin, then along Al Sufouh Road onto King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street and into Jumeirah, before finishing again near Dubai Police Academy.

You can see the route map here:

Although a full list of the road closures has not yet been released by Dubai Police, there are likely to be a lot of diversions in Umm Suqeim, Al Sufouh and on Jumeirah Bead Road.

A post from The Ripe Market advertises that Al Wasl Road will remain open while Jumeirah Beach road will be closed. Check their handy guide here if you’re planning on visiting the market this Friday:

If you’re planning on spectating, you can head along the route at any point to cheer runners on, or head to the grandstands which have been purposely set-up near Dubai Police Academy near the finish line.

The race starts from 6am for wheelchair and elite athletes, and from 7am for the masses, with around 30,000 runners from around the world set to take part.
