Sponsored: From DIY unicorn dream catchers, and a glow-in-the-dark doodle room, to flower crown making, the Bluewaters Open Gallery is an outdoor art festival of fun

March is art season in Dubai and to celebrate, Bluewaters, Meraas’ unique island destination and home to Ain Dubai, is hosting the Bluewaters Open Gallery first the first time.

Running over the next few weekends until 30 March, the event is part of Meraas’ efforts to bring music, art and dance all for free to Dubai. Here are just some of the highlights…

The arty workshops

There’ll be a series live art workshops hosted by talented artists for visitors of all ages to enjoy taking place every Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 8pm. Highlights include seashell painting, DIY unicorn dream catchers, a glow-in-the-dark doodle room, flower crown making, street style graffiti sessions, and a heart wall activation where visitors will get the chance to create a personalised mini heart canvas for their mums, as a personalised gift for Mother’s Day.

The live entertainment

The festival will also feature a series of open mic nights for budding comedians who think they have what it takes, as well as art and sketch improv nights offering fun, interactive lessons for those keen to get their creative juices flowing. Also, be sure to look out for the ‘Live Art’ roaming around Bluewaters – perfect for your Instagram feed.

The doing good workshop

To mark Earth Day with an artistic flourish this year, the destination will host a special workshop that teaches the participants how to give back to the environment through making functional solar-powered flashlights from recycled plastic bottles and glow sticks.
