And there’s a lovely reason behind why it’s been updated…

AquaFun, the world’s largest inflatable water theme park, is a floating obstacle course originally designed in one of the UAE’s most recognisable logos. The design of the ‘DUBAI’ letters combines the English and Arabic characters in cheerful pink and blue tones as a tribute to the city’s creativity, innovation and dedication to its people.

This month, the park extended its course with the addition of the letter I and a heart before the logo. Dubai Media Office reported that the reason for this design change was “inspired by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, after he launched the Love Lake, in an effort to bring joy and happiness to its residents and visitors.”

The huge park covers an area of 5,000 square metres and can accommodate up to 500 people at any one time, making it the largest park of its kind in the world. It aims to combine fun challenges with physical activity as the course can burn between 500 and 1300 calories per session.

A combination of 100 obstacles make up the course including challenging stairs, slides, slopes, bridges and towers, made from a durable and safe rubber material. Tickets are valid for a full day, so you can alternate mastering your skills and chilling out on the beach as many times as you like.

To succeed in completing the course, you’ll need agility, speed and balance – all of which are much trickier on water. Prepare to get wet, but most of all to have fun!
