It will be home to a Crystal Lagoon water park, 1km ski-slope, 380-metre long dancing fountain and the regions first indoor electric go-kart track…

Dubai may not have a shortage of mega malls, but a brand new one set to open its doors next year may outdo them all. Spanning almost 1.5 million square metres, Meydan One mall will be home to an array of shops, restaurants and some epic entertainment facilities when it opens in the second half of 2020.

And as well as the already announced plans for a 1km indoor ski slope, Crystal Lagoon with 500 metres of beaches and a water park and a 380-metre-long dancing fountain, Meydan Malls has just announced that the new mall will also be home to a 4000-square-metre electric go-karting track.

The regions first indoor electric go-karting track will be brought to Dubai in partnership with E-Karting, and promises an environmentally friendly, exhilarating karting experience when it opens in 2020.

The e-karting track, to be located on the Entertainment Floor of Meydan One, will be the first in Dubai to use karts powered entirely by electricity. Each engine will boast increased torque to provide racers with a high-powered karting experience that is completely free of noise pollution and exhaust fumes, making it the most advanced and eco-friendly karting experience around.

An impressive 46,000 square metres of the mall will be dedicated solely to entertainment, traditional and extreme sports, and e-gaming.

The entertainment focus continues with a huge multipurpose plaza that will have capacity for up to 30,000 people. The new events space will host a diverse range of cultural and entertainment activities for visitors of all ages.

Elsewhere, the mall will be home to more than 550 shops, a 13,200 square metre hypermarket, 190 restaurants and bars, a 21-screen cinema and a 100-square metre retractable skylight arena. There will also be car park space for over 12,000 vehicles.

Meydan One Mall will be part of the huge Meydan One development, currently under construction between the Meydan Hotel and Al Khail Road.

And it’s not the only new mall on the way.

Before the end of 2019, we’re expecting Cityland Mall to open its doors.

The world’s first nature-inspired shopping mall, Cityland Mall will open next to Global Village, and promises 350 shops, 75 cafes and restaurants and a 200,000 square foot garden in the centre.
