Every now and then its nice to shake up the normal routine, and check out a new breakfast spot or a new place for afternoon tea. From classic flat whites to cold brews and epic slices of cake, we’ve got you covered. Here are 10 new cafes to try in Dubai.

1. Secret Garden by L’ETO

Even though it will seriously help you up your Instagram game, this stunning floral cafe is a restaurant in its own right. As a concept from world-renowned cafe, L’ETO, it was bound to serve up some tasty treats. The beautiful interiors are carried through into the food and drinks, with a particularly beautiful mocktail menu available. It’s the second branch to open up, after the success of its first venture in City Walk.

2. Nutella Bar

Located in Vox Cinemas, Mall of the Emirates, the Nutella Bar is now serving up the unmistakable chocolatey treat from 10am to 10pm daily. Previously, Nutella fans had to go to DXB airport to get their fix, where the Nutella Bar DXB serves up an array of takeaway desserts such as mini pancakes, sharable muffins, crepes, waffles and choux. The design of the new chocolate destination appears to take inspiration from its own packaging, offering guests the space to sit and enjoy their desserts from creative custom tables which look like chocolate pouring from a Nutella jar lid.

3. Tashas Cafe

Expert restauranteur, Natasha Sideris, has added a new Tashas Cafe to the bustling hub of Dubai Marina Mall. The waterfront cafe, near to Pier 7, is perfectly located to welcome the hundreds of residents and tourists that stroll along Marina Walk every day. The interior decor follows the natural theme of the Jumeirah and Al Jalila branches, with stunning light fixtures and unassuming wooden furniture. On the menu, you can expect to find a lavish list of breakfast choices, such as brioche French toast, omelettes and mushroom en croute. While the main courses include pulled lamb welsh rarebit, chicken pot pie and beef carpaccio salad.

4. Wildflower Poke

Wildflower Poke & More (part of the Freedom Pizza group), is a new healthy hotspot which just opened its doors in Studio City’s Boutique Retail Centre. The quaint cafe offers poke and Açaí bowls as well as plenty of other fresh and tasty treats such as a seared ahi sandwiches and even a Korean fried chicken sandwichWildflower also uses eco-friendly packaging including bamboo straws, cutlery and keep-cups in a bid to reduce waste.

5. Common Grounds

Fans of one of Dubai’s leading homegrown restaurants, Common Grounds, can now visit their favourite local cafe in a brand new spot at Almas Tower in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT). Expect to find a range of their signature dishes, as well as a few new editions at the new location, open 7am to 6pm daily.  From one of the city’s best Acai bowls to the Aussie classic of smashed avocado toast for breakfast; premium burgers to vibrant salads for lunch, there are plenty of dishes for both vegetarians and meat-eaters.

6. Maison Assouline

Masison Assouline in the Fashion Avenue of The Dubai Mall is simply a chic yet inviting cafe hidden behind the guise of a bookshop. Much more than just a coffee shop, Maison Assouline is an elegant alfresco offering of healthy eats that makes for the perfect pitstop for an afternoon at the mall. The Swan Bar is an elegant indoor space with a couple of tables, while the Swan Terrace has front-row seats to the afternoon fountain shows and very Instagrammable decor with beautifully painted pillars covered in birds.

7. Walnut Grove

Walnut Grove now has a second branch at The Dubai Mall which comes complete with prime Dubai Fountain views. The South African concept first landed in Dubai in 2016 with a City Walk location, and serves a menu of cosy cafe favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Be sure to grab a table on the expansive terrace – it’s one of the best for those brilliant Downtown views.

8. Cassette

Cassette is the breakfast hotspot located in the unassuming Al Quoz Courtyard. As the name suggests, music plays a very big part at Cassette. Special ceiling foam helps to cushion the surround sound while the cafes playlists have been carefully curated. There are metal beams which have been painted mint; fun Middle-Eastern-inspired prints adorn the walls; there’s a long L-shaped coffee counter in one corner and plenty of breathing space between tables.

9. Sketch Art Cafe

Sketch Art Cafe is a cool new space at Mattar bin Lahej Gallery in Al Wasl Road in Jumeirah. At the cafe you can illustrate paper coffee cups while you catch up over a refreshing beverage. At the end of the day, 10 to 20 of the most wow-worthy cups will then be selected and put on display on the Coffee Cup Wall of Fame.

10. Unwind

It’s time to unleash your competitive side as Unwind Cafe, the first speciality board game cafe in Dubai, has arrived. The cafe has over 500 board games and plenty of well-trained staff known as Game Masters, who are on-hand to help customers understand how to play them.
