So, it’s not going to be a long weekend…

The UAE Government has confirmed that there’s not going to be an extra day off this weekend.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) took to Twitter to confirm that the Hijri New Year holiday will be observed on Saturday August 31 as confirmed by the relevant authorities.

“Regular working hours will resume on Sunday September 1, 2019. Happy New Year” the Tweet concludes.

As the announcement falls on a the weekend, many private sector companies and schools had already chosen to give Sunday off as a holiday to their employees.

Dubai Tourism has previously confirmed that there’s going to be a dry night in Dubai this weekend, and no alcoholic beverages will be served across the city from 6.30pm on Saturday August 31, until 7.30pm on Sunday September 1.
