Steve Aoki will no longer be performing in the Emirate this weekend…

It’s bad news for those who were looking forward to October’s BAO Festival in Dubai, as organisers have announced its cancellation ten days before it was due to take place.

Fans of legendary DJ Steve Aoki will be disappointed as the cake-throwing DJ, who’s worked with the likes of Iggy Azalea, will.i.am and Afrojack, was set to headline at the festival.

The EDM music event was due to take place at the Meydan Grandstand on Friday October 4. While no reason for the cancellation has been given, an email sent to Platinumlist.net ticket holders has promised a refund to be issued within 15 days.

The announcement was made via BAO Festival’s management team, stating “We are sorry to inform, that BAO Fest 2019 has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Your tickets will be automatically refunded.”

It would have been the second time the event came to the city, with last years’ successful show seeing some top-class DJs including Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Afrojack, Don Diablo.

Alongside Steve Aoki, other acts set to perform at this years’ festival included DJ L and popular EDM DJ Mariana bo.

Attendees to the 2019 event would have been in for a spectacular show, with 2018’s two- day event capitalising on a Chinese theme, with huge pyrotechnics and aerial acrobat performers.

Though it’s not all bad news for music fans in Dubai this October. This month will see live performances from Rita Ora, Ruful Du Sol and Disclosure as part of W Dubai – The Palm’s Wake Up Call festival, Eminem will perform in Abu Dhabi, and the first two-day version of Party in the Park will see Fatboy Slim headline on Thursday October 31 at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
