The RTA open new Dubai road that looks set to reduce travel time
The new road enhances the link between Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road…
It’s good news for Dubai drivers as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the opening of the Al Yalayis and Al Asayel Streets Improvement Project over the weekend.
The new street openings mean that transit time between Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will be cut to four minutes, which should mean a speedier drive to work for those that use that route.
The project also offers additional entry and exit points for areas such as Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens and Jebel Ali development.

The project scope included increasing lanes on Al Yalayis street from three to five in each direction, directly enhancing the links to Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road, thus improving traffic flow.
Additional lanes have been completed along Al Yalayis Street linking with flyovers of First Al Khalil Street and Al Asayel Street, which have widened the road to seven lanes in each direction.
A 5km improvement to Al Asayel Street will act as an important traffic corridor that runs parallel to, and offers an alternative to, Al Khail Road for cars travelling between Business Bay and Jebel Ali via Al Quoz.
The works are part of the Parallel Roads Project, the first phase of which the RTA opened in 2018.
