Introducing The Loft’s new ‘Rooftop Party Brunch’ concept…

After a successful run with its Lofty Caviar Brunch earlier this year, The Loft at Dubai Opera are seemingly changing tack, rebranding their Friday afternoon offering to the new ‘Rooftop Party Brunch’, so we were intrigued to see how the new concept differs.

As ever, the setting of the restaurant is seriously impressive, with its sophisticated setting filled with airy, natural light and we love the dine-at-the-bar concept, making us feel we’re dining in an upscale brasserie in New York.

Immediately catching our eye are the wow-worthy buffet offerings, which includes a whole table dedicated to cheese that boasts creamy wedges of brie, smoked cheddar, bubbling pots of fondue and even pasta and risotto waiting to be prepared in giant parmesan wheels.

The salad and seafood stations are equally as impressive with crisp, colourful salad options that were delightfully varied while over at the seafood section fresh jumbo prawns and The Loft’s signature oysters glisten on crushed ice.

The dining concept is half buffet, half dishes served to the table, which includes truffle pizza, flatbreads and ricotta, along with hummus and crudites, followed by a barbecued meat platter for mains. Initially we love the variety, but after a while it does get a little overwhelming.

Once the feasting is done, the rooftop terrace with its leafy garden setting is the perfect spot to hang out with one of the varied drinks selection. Music keeps the atmosphere level all day, but the introduction of bar dancers jars slightly with the crowd, which is made up of couples, families and a handful of groups enjoying a more low-key afternoon catch-up.

It’s a great Friday afternoon brunch option if you’re looking for a more chilled out vibe than some of the more boisterous party brunches in the city, but we’re not sure that’s exactly what this new concept is aiming for.
