From a painting workshop in the mountains of Fujairah to a Frank Sinatra production or a cubist electro night…

With a brand new month comes brand new events to check out, and culture vultures, we’ve rounded up plenty to keep you busy in November.

Here’s our pick of the top-art related events this month.

Exhibition: Community and Critique

Showcasing the works of 15 emerging artists from the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship programme, this exhibition is a taste of where contemporary art is right now in the young generation. These include notions of tradition, insomnia, and loneliness, manifested in a variety of mediums including portraits, installations and performance art.

Performance: Sinatra: Raw

Written and performed by Richard Shelton, the one-man theatre production that was a sell-out run at the 2018 and 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival is heading to Dubai. In it, Shelton performs as Frank Sinatra with some of his classic songs interspersed throughout proceedings.

Workshop: Painting Fujairah’s Wild Mountains

This outdoor painting workshop led by Matthew Ryder is focused on capturing the light, atmosphere and texture of the stunning Hajar mountains that surround Fujairah. Participants are asked to bring their own materials.

Screening: A Cure for Wellness

New psychological thriller A Cure for Wellness follows the story of a young executive who is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from a wellness centre at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. But the miraculous treatments are not what they seem.

Event: Cubist Electro Night

Party under the stars at the Louvre Abu Dhabi at the Cubist Electro Night. Presenting live DJ sets from the legendary alter ego of DJ Amon Tobin, Two Fingers, alongside with Molecule, a French pioneer in sound innovation, and emblematic Boogie Box DJs, Hassan Alwan and Tristan Girault playing over cubsim-inspired visuals lighting the facades and the iconic dome of the museum.

Exhibition: Sustainable Art

A joint exhibition from two Dubai-based artists Beema Samuel and Diyali Bhalla presents a variety of artworks including paintings and three-dimensional installation made from upcycled material.
