Social distancing date nights are about to get a whole lot better…

A trip to the outdoor cinema is something that has become a must-do during Dubai’s cooler months. Sadly the outdoor cinema season was cut short thanks to a worldwide shut down of public places, but it’s not all bad news.

Urban Entertainment, the company behind one of the city’s most popular outdoor cinemas, has announced plans to unveil a drive-in cinema concept – Urban Drive-In Cinema. According to The National, the company would like to launch in Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah very soon.

In an interview, Urban Entertainment chief executive Michael Heyes said: “We are currently working on several projects across the UAE where we will be looking to implement drive-in cinemas. We feel now is the perfect time to launch this – especially as social distancing will still be important as restrictions on outdoor events start to relax.”

Heyes went on to say that food, snacks and drinks will be delivered to your car, helping you to maintain social distancing rules throughout the entire experience. The concept for life though, not just for coronavirus, as Urban Outdoor Cinema intends to expand its offering over time.

The company already offers a drive-in cinema experience for private events. While the Urban Outdoor Cinema uses wireless headphones at its Habtoor Grand location, the drive-in uses an FM frequency to transit the sound through your car radio.

While there’s no official launch date for the drive-in yet, we’ll let you know as soon as an announcement is revealed.
