Train across the city at a free workout station

Working up a sweat as part of Dubai Fitness Challenge doesn’t have to cost a thing. With City Is A Gym – presented by Etisalat, there are 30 free workout stations across the city to try including at Skydive Dubai, JLT, La Mer and Arabian Ranches. Simply head to the location, find the Dubai Fitness Challenge stand, scan the QR code, and follow the free workout provided. Join the Under Armour Dubai Fitness Challenge

Are you ready for a killer endurance workout? The grueling Under Armour Dubai Fitness Challenge returns. Participants are invited to test their prowess on a host of training challenges positioned around a tailor-made course. You’ll have to fill wheelbarrows, crawl under cargo nets, pick up sandbags, submerge yourself in an ice bath and other grimacing tasks. As the day progresses, the challenges become increasingly difficult and fewer participants progress to the next levels. By the end of the day, a male and female winner will be crowned the Under Armour Athletes of 2020. Entry costs Dhs99. Book your spot here.

Cool Drummings Pound workout at the Etisalat Fitness Theatre

Billed as total body cardio jam session, Pound workouts incorporate weighted drumsticks to help participants torch calories per hour. Participants ‘drum’ above their heads, on the ground and side-to-side, guaranteeing plenty of repetitions and muscle movement. We’ll definitely be giving this a go on the beach, this week. Cycle along Sheikh Zayed Road as part of Dubai Ride

Oh, this is a big one. In fact, it’s probably the biggest event of the challenge. Dubai Ride is a unique community cycle, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride around some of the most iconic routes in the city… including Sheikh Zayed Road. There are two routes to choose from: the Family Route, which is a 4km cycle on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai (ages 5+), and the General Route, a 14km ride on Sheikh Zayed Road, Business Bay, Dubai Water Canal and Downtown Dubai (ages 13+). There is no bike rental on site, so you must bring your own bike and helmet, and you must sign up ahead of the event as places are limited. More info here.

Run through the desert at Al Marmoon Dune Run

Tackle a 5km race across hard and soft sand around Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve, which is famous for its flamingos and abundant wildlife. The race is open to those above 15 years, and costs Dhs130 to enter. Book here.

The Dubai Fitness Challenge was launched in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, to encourage residents to work out for 30 minutes every day for 30 days. It is organised by Dubai Tourism and Dubai Sports Council, and takes place from October 30 to November 28 with a variety of free workouts to sign up for across the city.
