Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is coming back to the city running from February 14 to 26.

The tournament begins with the 22nd year of the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) event which will take place from February 14 to 19 followed by the 30th anniversary staging of the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Tour 500 tournament.

There’s a thrilling week of women’s tennis action to soak in so make sure you get your tickets as they go on sale on January 27. Prices start from Dhs55 and will be available at the box office from February 8. There will be capacity restrictions so don’t wait

For the women’s tournament, tennis fans will see an incredible line-up featuring nine of the world’s top 10 and 17 of the top 20 women competing to raise the prestigious Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships trophy.

Here’s the line-up 

Garbine Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships trophy

Reigning champion Garbine Muguruza, two-time winners Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina, Petra Kvitova (2013 champion) and Belinda Bencic (2019 winner) will be descending to Dubai with hopes to raise the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships trophy once again.

They do however have some massive competition ahead of them as other top contenders have their eye on the same prize.

Also heading to Dubai is  2021 Wimbledon and US Open semi-finalist Aryna Sabalenka, who has won in Doha in 2020 and Abu Dhabi in 2021 – will she secure a Dubai win to claim a Middle East treble. Winner of the Most Improved Player of The Year award, Barbora Krejcikova will also be descending to Dubai after winning titles at the French Open and Sydney final.

This year will also see former Dubai runner-up Karolina Pliskova returning as well as Paula Badosa who will be one to watch after she walked away with the trophy in Sydney 2022.

Further star names include Iga Swiatek, Maria Sakkari, 2021 WTA Finals runner-up Anett Kontaveit, high ranked Arab player Ons Jabeur and rising star Cori Gauff. 

Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free stated, ‘Competition has always been fierce, and this year will be no different with the world’s best women’s players returning to Dubai once again.’

Tournament Director Salah Tahlak stated, ‘The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships has once again attracted an incredible field of women players which is second to none.’ He added, ‘Despite so many of the game’s very top names competing, success is never guaranteed and over the years many hopeful contenders have sprung a surprise and produced some stunning and unexpected upsets.’
