While Skywards miles are being devalued, Skywards Miles earning opportunities will be increased for all Platinum, Gold and Silver members…

Emirates Airline has devalued its Emirates Skywards miles, meaning you’ll require more miles for upgrades and rewards. As reported by One Mile At A Time, Emirates confirmed that the change was ‘in line with market conditions.’

A statement from Emirates said, “Emirates Skywards is introducing an increase on Skywards Miles required for Upgrade Rewards and Classic Rewards booked in Business Class and First Class. The increase will be gradually introduced on reward tickets across the Emirates network between 22 December 2022 and 31 January 2023.

Although Emirates has not confirmed how much Emirates Skywards miles have been devalued, and the online miles calculator is yet to be updated, One Mile At A Time suggests there will be an increase in the cost of first and business class awards by 20 per cent.

But it’s not all bad news for frequent fliers.

On Emirates flights booked from January 31, 2023 onwards, Emirates will increase the bonus Skywards Miles earning opportunities for all Platinum, Gold and Silver.

So the airline’s most loyal customers can look forward to an increased earning opportunity on bonus Skywards miles. For Platinum members, this means a further 100 per cent of the Economy Flex+ Miles earned on a given route (increasing from 75 per cent); Skywards Gold members will earn 75 per cent of the Economy Flex+ Miles earned on a given route (increasing from 50 per cent); and Skywards Silver Members will earn 30 per cent of the Economy Flex+ Miles earned on a given route (increasing from 25 per cent). Blue members will not get any rewards.
