Art exhibitions at Al Mureijah

In the Heart of Another Country is an exhibition showcasing works from the Sharjah Art Foundation Collection. It consists of over 150 artworks by more than 60 artists which all explore the concept of home – of belonging and longing. The exhibition runs until September 24, 2023 at Al Mureijah Art Spaces.

Starting from October 29, 2023, art fans can catch an exhibition by Turner Prize-winner Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska titled Plaited Time / Deep Water. The much-awaited duo exhibition features Sharjah’s architecture and soundscapes. It will run until January 28, 2024

On November 18, 2023 painter and printmaker Gavin Jantjes will be presenting his largest solo presentation titled To Be Free! A Retrospective 1970-2023. The exhibition brings together more than five decades of the artist’s practice from the 1970s to present day.

Must-visit events

Vantage Point Sharjah returns for its 11th edition on October 14 until January 14, 2024. The vast photography exhibition will highlight early-career photographers from across Africa and Asia.

Old Al Diwan Al Amiri, Al Hamriyah, Sharjah 

Perform Sharjah also returns this Autumn with its second season of performances from October 19 to February 11, 2024. Expect performances by international artists across Sharjah’s public spaces, heritage houses and theatres.

Focal Point returns for yet another season with a selection of printed materials as well as talks, book launches, artists’ signings, workshops, music and artist-made products. The three-day festival is set to take place on November 24 to 26, 2023.

Bait Obaid Al Shamsi Arts Square

For film fans, there is plenty of popcorn-munching fun with the return of the Sharjah Film Platform. Now in its sixth edition, the 10-day festival is set to enthral with a line-up of more than 30 cutting-edge films together with an enriching programme of talks, concerts and events. It is set to run from December 8 to 17, 2023.
