The Audemars Piguet x Swatch is now available to purchase online in the UAE

After last-minute cancellations at Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates last weekend, the highly anticipated Audemars Piguet x Swatch collection is now officially available to purchase online in the UAE.
The watch is available on noon minutes, which means you don’t have to wait too long to receive your order.
At the moment, there are five colours available: Green Eight, Blaue Acht, Otto Rosso, Oranji Hachi and Ocho Negro. You can check these out in the gallery below.

If you can’t wait to get your hands on the watch, it is currently priced at a hefty Dhs12,500 online. A disclaimer on the product listing also notes that the “price is subject to change”. However, those willing to wait may be able to save a few dirhams, as prices are could settle over time.
The launch of the eight rainbow-hued pocket watches was set to drop on Saturday, May 16, in Swatch stores at Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates. However, the event was cancelled at the very last minute due to safety concerns, leaving the thousands of people queued in both malls frustrated and disappointed.
The post on social media stated, ‘In view of public safety considerations, we have decided not to proceed with the sale of the product at Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates, and the event has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.’

Dubai wasn’t the only city. Mumbai and Delhi in India, as well as several cities across the UK, also cancelled the event.
But why the huge hype over a watch?
Well, according to Swatch, it brings together the best bits of both brands.
The avant-garde design of Audemars Piguet’s statement-making Royal Oak joins forces with Swatch’s modular 1980s POP line, resulting in this creative collection of 8 retro pocket watches.
Each watch will feature a new hand-wound SISTEM51 movement, a Swiss-made Swatch signature, and can be paired with three interchangeable lanyard lengths, available in all colours. The lanyards are sold separately, priced at Dhs190 each.
There are eight unique colourways to choose from, and, to give you even more flexibility to style it your way, each model comes in one of two unique styles: Lépine or Savonnette.
