Punchdrunk is set to bring a never-before-seen concept to Ras Al Khaimah next year

The forthcoming Wynn Al Marjan Island Resort is set to be the most anticipated hotel opening of 2027 in the UAE, and it just added another exciting layer.

As part of its all-star entertainment line-up, Wynn Al Marjan Island will welcome Punchdrunk, the award-winning immersive theatre show. Punchdrunk is a British theatre company celebrated for its modern immersive performances, with shows now popping up around the world, from Shanghai to New York.

For its MENA debut, Punchdrunk will bring an original production to Wynn Al Marjan Island, which promises to be something entirely unique for the UAE.

The production will be conceived and directed by Punchdrunk’s founder, Felix Barrett MBE, the creative mind behind Sleep No More, a show that ran for 14 years in New York across more than 5,000 performances. The concept promises an amalgam of song and dance, but what makes it unique is that there’ll be two completely different experiences within the same show. Sit in a traditional theatre upstairs for the full spectacle, or take the immersive route downstairs, roaming freely through backstage worlds and hidden spaces as the narrative unfolds around you.

The theatre itself has been designed as part of the experience, and will feature Art Deco influences, with rich fabrics and grand spaces evoking Hollywood’s golden era.

When will it open?

Punchdrunk will open with the rest of the UAE’s first casino resort, debuting in 2027. Originally slated for a spring opening, Wynn CEO Craig Billings said last month that the megaproject could face a ‘modest delay’ due to the regional conflict, per Khaleej Times. We do expect a modest delay in our opening timeline, and I expect that we will quantify that in the coming months,” Billings said during an earnings conference call.
