Planning to head out on the Hijri New Year holiday?

Dubai has confirmed free public parking on Monday June 15, as well as updated public transport schedules across the city.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that all public parking zones across the city will be free of charge for the holiday. The exemption does not apply to multi-storey car parks, where normal parking fees will still be in place.

Regular parking charges will resume on Tuesday June 16.

Free parking across Dubai

The annual Hijri New Year holiday is observed across the UAE and often comes with adjusted timings for public services and transport networks.

For motorists, the biggest change will be free parking across public parking zones in Dubai. Drivers should note that the free parking period does not include multi-storey parking facilities, where standard fees will continue to apply throughout the holiday.

Whether you’re heading to brunch, the beach or spending time with family and friends, it’s worth checking your route and transport options before setting off.

Changes to public transport services

The RTA has also announced revised operating hours for some public transport services during the holiday.

Dubai Metro services on both the Red and Green Lines will run from 5am to midnight on Monday, while Dubai Tram services will operate from 6am until 1am on Tuesday June 16.

If you’re planning to travel by bus, it’s recommended to check the S’hail app for the latest service timings and any route changes before your journey.

There is also a temporary change for those travelling to Abu Dhabi. Bus Route E100, which usually runs between Al Ghubaiba Bus Station and Abu Dhabi, will be suspended from June 13 to 15. Passengers can instead use Route E101 from Ibn Battuta Bus Station.

Marine transport services will continue to operate as normal throughout the holiday period.

Meanwhile, RTA Customer Happiness Centres will be closed on Monday June 15. Customers can still access services through Smart Kiosks located across Dubai, as well as the Customer Happiness Centre in Umm Ramool.

Normal operating hours for parking and customer service centres will resume after the public holiday.
